Answers to Common Questions

Can I have a choice of colours?

All lunchbox designs on this website are shown in black but your choice of colours is available during checkout.

Can I wash the lunchbox once the decal is on it?

I use a high quality permanent vinyl that is “dishwasher friendly.” I’ve trialled one in my dishwasher every day for six months and it came through fine. But if you want to get the longest life out of your child’s decal, perhaps hand washing is your better choice.

Tell me about your decal sizes.

When you select your design there is a choice of size to suit common lunchboxes in New Zealand.

Some of my images are wider than they are tall, and some are taller than they are wide. So your actual finished decal dimensions will be determined by the image you choose and the length of your child’s name. Your finished decal will not exceed either the width OR height of the size you select at checkout. So it will fit inside the dimensions of the lunchbox lid, but not fill it in both directions (usually).

If you would like a custom size, use my contact form to give me the details and I’ll see what I can do. There may be an additional small charge.

Can I have a different (fancy) font?

Intricate and decorative fonts are not easy for very young children to read. The consensus among my fellow early educators is that the simple Comic Sans font I use is one of the best for children and helps them to recognise their name.

But if you really need a particular font, let me know and I’ll do my best.

What’s the best technique for applying my decal?

I have prepared a video showing how to prepare your surface and attach your decal. You can view it here.

How long will it take to get my decal to me after I order it?

If you choose the free shipping option you can expect your decal in around 5-8 working days. If you choose the courier option you can expect delivery 1-3 days after ordering. For my part, I’ll despatch your decal the next working day.

Must I have a brand-new lunchbox?

No. Just make sure the surface of any lunchbox is clean and smooth – my labels do not stick well to textured or matt finishes.

My child is older and no longer wants their name on their lunchbox. Can I have a decal without the name?

Absolutely. Just put “No Name” in the name field and I’ll do the rest!
